Pre-Programme activities Kick off on Wednesday April 10th
There will be some other activities available within the town of Ennis its self – walking tours and whiskey trails etc… as well as some free things to see and do and we will post information about these in Jan/ Feb, when the 2019 schedules are available.
Also, if you are interested in walking / hiking in the famous Burren region please email us @ UWPIRL@gmail.com and if we get enough interest we can arrange transport to get to the Burren and a guide.
The Burren (Irish: Boireann, meaning “great rock”) is a region of environmental interest primarily located in north western County Clare, Ireland, dominated by glaciated karst (or sometimes glaciokarst) landscape.
Community Service – Should you arrive early and be available on 9th, 10th or 11th April and would like to join local volunteers as they promote ‘ 65 Roses week’ – the National awareness week for Cystic Fibrosis. Wednesday April 10th 2019 Sightseeing trip from Ennis to Killarney, County Kerry on the ‘Killarney Emerald Isle Tour’.
Depart Ennis 8.30am, visiting Adare Village, continue to Killarney visiting Muckross House & Gardens, Ross Castle, Torc Waterfall, St. Mary’s Cathedral and Killarney National Park. Free time to shop, take a jaunting car ride and lunch in Killarney town or at Muckross House.
Tour price will be approx. € 60 per person which includes group rate -admission fee to Muckross House for guided tour. This price is based on minimum number of 16 persons and does not include lunch, we will update price once we have numbers registered for this tour and offer refund if necessary.
Thursday April 11th 2019 Sightseeing and boat trip from Ennis to The Cliffs of Moher & Inis Óirr, County Galway.
Depart Ennis 8.30 am for a visit to The Cliffs of Moher. Arrive at The Cliffs of Moher for a walk along the cliffs, to O’Brien’s Tower and tour of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience with many interesting displays and animation movie. There are two cafés and a gift shop in the Visitor Experience.
Depart Cliffs of Moher for boat trip to one of the Aran Islands – Inis Óirr from Doolin at Arrive at the island of Inis Óirr, meet local guide for a welcome talk on life on the island, and then wander to explore the sights and attractions on the island on Inis Óirr including O’Brien’s Castle built in the 14th century and the famous ship wreck! Inis Óirr is an Irish speaking Island and part of the ‘Gaeltacht’ region in co. Galway, it’s the smallest of the three Aran Islands.
Interesting note!! Up with People performed on Inis Meáin and ALL inhabits of the island attended the show in the parish hall! Cast members walked in show costumes from host families to the show site!
Explore the small island which is an extension of The Burren and is an unusual karst limestone landscape formed during the Ice Age. There is a restaurant, and three pubs on the island for lunch.
Return to Doolin by ferry and continue to your hotel accommodation in Ennis.
Minimum numbers required 16 persons – Tour price Euro € 70 per person. This includes group admission fee to The Cliffs of Moher and boat ride to Inis Óirr. This does not include lunch.
We have planned all activities for the days in advance of EAM. Should we get requests / feedback regarding the days following EAM we certainly will look at that!
