Directions from Bochum Central Station to Hotel Moxy 
  • Start: Bochum Hbf (Bochum Central Station)
  • Destination: Moxy Bochum, Stadionring 18, 44791 Bochum

1. Regardless of which platform you arrive on, take the stairs down towards the exit ‘Ausgang City ReiseZentrum‘.
2. In the main hall, take the large staircase down one level.
3. Then turn right and go down another level.
4. Follow the signs for 308, 316, 318 Gerthe/ Ruhrstadion.
5. On the second level, the tram stop is right behind you, so turn 180 degrees.
6. Get on the tram.
7. It is just two stops to Vonovia Ruhrstadion. 
8. Get off and cross the road at the pedestrian lights.
9. Walk towards the Ritterburg beer garden and turn left towards the Ruhrstadion.
10. Walk down the road and past the stadium.
11. Turn right behind the stadium and you will already see the Moxy Hotel at a distance of 200 m on your left.

You have arrived.

  • Umweltplakette (environmental sticker) / Low-emission zones:
    • Most German cities have designated low-emission zones where only vehicles with a green sticker are allowed to drive.
    • The stickers can be purchased online for for 15-20€, e.g. at:
      • TÜV Süd
      • TÜV Nord A copy of the vehicle registration document is required to verify the emission class.
    • Driving in a low-emission zone without a valid sticker can result in a €100 fine. Virtually all vehicles (including electric vehicles) require the sticker so to be safe just assume you need one if you’re driving into Germany. If you don’t then the application process likely won’t work anyway.
  • Speed limit: No, there is no general speed limit in Germany, but YES, most streets have an individual limit.

There will be an option to store your luggage if you arrive before your hotel room is ready.

  • Please note that not all businesses accept credit cards. Many accept Maestro (EC) Cards, all accept cash.
  • ATMs can be found
  • Most larger supermarkets (REWE, Aldi, Edeka, etc.) offer the option to withdraw cash at the cash register. Most require the physical card and ID.
  • It is usually no problem to split the bill at restaurants.
  • Tipping at restaurants: Tipping is customary, usually 10% or rounding up to the closest “even” amount. Anything more is of course appreciated (minimum wage is 12.82€/hour).
  • We suggest to use the parking garage at Starlight Express

    • Cost: 4€ per 24hrs. Maximum continued stay: 5 days.
    • Charging stations available, individual charge
  • There is limited parking at the hotel
  • Phone coverage is good, you should experience few areas without reception
  • Wi-Fi is not omnipresent! The hotel offers Wi-Fi, some restaurants / bars do
  • Check your contract beforehand to see if roaming fees apply.
  • Local & regional
    • For planning routes with public transit use vrr.de or VRR App & eezy.nrw Ticket (App Store: VRR App & eezy.nrw Ticket / Google Play Store: VRR App & eezy.nrw Ticket )
    • We recommend to download the app and register before you get to Bochum! Detailed information can be found in the file below
    • Tickets and fares: eezy.nrw https://www.vrr.de/en/tickets-fares/eezynrw/
      • eezy ticket allows you to check in and check out to pay for the linear kilometres only
    • Google maps also works well to plan transit routes.
    • To get to the hotel, look for directions to Ruhrkongress Bochum which is located right next door.

  • Long distance

If you arrive at Düsseldorf Airport, use the Eezy App to purchase your local transport ticket to Bochum and the ticket will be valid for the subway as well. Single price: € 18,90 / Eezy App price: € 13

Document with detailed info on public transit

  • Most stores are open 9am-8pm, Monday through Saturday.
  • Please note that Thursday, May 1st is a holiday in Germany. That means that virtually all stores (except a few at train stations and gas stations) are closed for the day.
  • Most stores are closed on Sundays and holidays (exceptions apply as for holidays)
